The Goddess of the East on Mount Sanqing

The Goddess of the East is located in the northeastern part of Nanshan Garden and is an iconic landscape of Mount Sanqing. At an altitude of over 1,180 meters, the entire mountain resembles a young woman with flowing hair — a marvel of nature, exquisitely crafted by the heavens. For hundreds of millions of years, the goddess has sat serenely atop the peak, silently observing all living beings with a tranquil expression. Legend has it that she is the 23rd daughter of the Queen Mother of the West, named Yaoji. People believe she is the personification of spring, hence she is also called the “Goddess of the East.”

1. Take the eastern cable car (Jinsha Cable Car) from the main entrance of Mount Sanqing and arrive in about ten minutes.

2. Hike approximately 4.22 km, which takes about one hour.

Peak season (Feb 1 – Dec 31): Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00, Saturday to Sunday 07:30–17:30; Off-season (Jan 1 – Jan 31): 08:30–16:30
