Legend has it that pine trees are found everywhere on Mount Sanqing, but there are very few in the southern part. An immortal ordered his disciples, Qingfeng and Mingyue, to move some pine trees from the northern mountain to the southern mountain, stipulating that they could only do so at night. Unfortunately, when Qingfeng was carrying the last pine tree, dawn broke, and he instantly turned into stone, forever burdened with the tree he failed to move. Thus, there remains today a rock formation on the cliffs resembling a divine child, carrying two pine trees and struggling to climb along the cliff face — the scene known as the Divine Child Carrying Pine Trees.
