Xingtai Zoo

Xingtai Zoo is located at the intersection of Liangzhuang Road and Shuichang Road. Originally part of the Changxin Forest Farm under the Xingtai County Forestry Bureau, its first phase covers an area of 282 mu. It is a medium-sized park that integrates animal breeding, animal viewing, and recreational activities, and is rated as a three-star park in Hebei Province. The predecessor of Xingtai Zoo was the animal exhibition area of Xingtai People's Park.

The zoo’s functional areas include carnivore zones, herbivore zones, omnivore zones, bird zones, primate zones, amphibian zones, small animal free-range areas, management areas, office areas, children’s activity areas, lake areas, and entrance plazas. By December 2006, construction of over 10 animal enclosures and supporting facilities was completed, and animals were relocated as a whole. Before the official opening in 2008, the Xingtai Gardens Authority independently designed and built a 2,300-square-meter monkey house. Following the principle of “opening while constructing,” the Xingtai gardening department also self-designed and self-built the Bird Forest. This project covers an area of over 5,000 square meters. By erecting main frames and installing protective nets, large patches of trees were enclosed to become part of the aviary, providing a “forest” habitat for birds.

In 2012, under Xingtai City’s “Zero Government Service Fees” policy, the zoo officially stopped charging admission fees starting March 1, becoming free to the public. Xingtai Zoo became the second zoo in China to offer free entry, following Xiamen Zhongshan Park Zoo.

Transit: Within Xingtai City, take bus routes 9, 35, 108, or 109 and get off at Xindian Station, then walk north to reach the zoo.
