Yushan Hongyuan

Yushan Hongyuan is a Jiangxi Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Yushan Hongyuan is located within what is now Yushan No. 1 Middle School in Bingxi Town, Yushan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, China. It was designated as a Jiangxi Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 2006.

Also known as the Zhang Family Garden, Hongyuan was built by Zhang Zihong, a wealthy merchant from Yushan in the late Qing Dynasty (originally from Jingde, Anhui), hence the name "Hongyuan," and covers an area of over 20,000 square meters. In the fourth month of the 29th year of the Guangxu reign, an official higher elementary school was established within Hongyuan. In the autumn of 1939, Yushan No. 1 Middle School was founded on the site. Today, the remaining structures include a stone boat, a dry boat, a waterside pavilion, and a lotus pond.

Bingxi Subdistrict: Bingxi Subdistrict is located on the banks of the Bingxi River, upstream of the Xin River, and is the seat of Yushan County. The subdistrict currently covers a total area of 55.5 square kilometers, including 847 hectares of arable land, 856 hectares of mountainous land, and 221 hectares of water area. It administers 15 community neighborhood committees and 10 agricultural administrative villages. The permanent resident population is 153,300, including 24,200 agricultural residents.
