Qili Street Scenic Area

The Qili Street Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Qili Street Scenic Area in Yushan County is situated in the southwest of Yushan, a nationally designated hygienic city, a top tourism county in Jiangxi Province, and a provincial-level garden city. It comprises four major sections: Qili Street with a thousand years of historical and cultural heritage, Wanliuzhou National Wetland Park, the Wencheng Pagoda Folk Culture Park featuring an ancient pagoda from the Ming Dynasty, and Bingxi River known as the “Venice of the East.” The scenic area has a total planned area of 3.2 square kilometers, with a core scenic area of 1.85 square kilometers, and a total investment of 577 million yuan.

Transportation is highly convenient. The Shanghai-Kunming Expressway exit is 4 kilometers from the scenic area, National Highway 320 is 2 kilometers away, Yushan South High-Speed Railway Station is 7 kilometers away, Yushan Railway Station is 1 kilometer away, and Sanqingshan Airport is 40 kilometers away.

The area offers a rich variety of tourism offerings. Historical culture is vividly recreated through sites such as Luowen Inkstones from the Tang Dynasty, Kuixing Tower from the Qing Dynasty, Qili Pass from the Ming Dynasty, Wenchang Pavilion from the Qing Dynasty, Nanlou from the Song Dynasty, Zhangjia Ancient Residence from the Qing Dynasty, Wencheng Pagoda from the Ming Dynasty, Xingde Society from the Qing Dynasty, and ancient stages. The area is also home to numerous historical figures, including the Tang Dynasty poet Gu Kuang, Tang Dynasty chancellor Yan Liben, Southern Song poets Yang Weizhen and Lu You, Yuan Dynasty writer Lu Qi, Ming Dynasty great traveler Xu Xiake, modern essayist Yu Dafu, Zhang Leping and his wife — authors of The Wandering Life of Sanmao, and Liu Zigu, one of China’s “Three Masters of Jinling” in the painting world. Throughout history, celebrated figures have visited Yushan and left behind timeless verses of praise. Cultural heritage thrives here with districts dedicated to inkstone carving, folk customs, wedding photography, and gourmet food culture. Visitors can also experience traditional rural life in an ancient “village within a village,” explore the Sanqing Calligraphy and Painting Academy, the Suxin Ceramic Art Museum, a ramie spinning experience center, venues for the promotion of intangible cultural heritage, the culturally rich Wencheng Pagoda Courtyard, and the harmonious and civilized Zhihe Square. As the verse goes, “A midge drifts past the fishing boat, with fishermen’s songs drifting in and out. The journey is hard and cramped, but I rejoice in the open air with a hearty shout. If only this stream could turn into spring wine for me.”

The Qili Street Scenic Area has been honored with titles such as Jiangxi Province’s Famous Food Street, Jiangxi Province’s Characteristic Tourism Town, China’s Historic Famous Street, Model Street for “A Hundred Cities, Ten Thousand Stores, No Counterfeits,” and a University Student Entrepreneurship Incubation Base.
