Former Site of the Northeastern Jiangxi Special Committee and the Northeastern Jiangxi Revolutionary Committee

The former site of the Northeastern Jiangxi Special Committee and the Northeastern Jiangxi Revolutionary Committee is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

The former site of the Northeastern Jiangxi Special Committee and the Northeastern Jiangxi Revolutionary Committee is located at the site of the Leping City Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in the urban area. Leping was the gateway to the Northeastern Jiangxi Soviet Area during the Agrarian Revolutionary period. In order to expand the revolutionary base, on August 20, 1930, under the leadership of Comrade Fang Zhimin, the Red Army liberated Leping City in one fell swoop. Since then, the revolutionary base in Leping rapidly expanded, and within less than a month, the entire county turned red. County, district, township, and village Soviet governments were successively established, allowing the revolutionary base to grow and consolidate.

In September 1930, while strengthening the consolidation of the Soviet bases in Yiyang, Hengfeng, and Dexing counties, the Northeastern Jiangxi Committee aimed to better develop revolutionary bases in areas such as Jingdezhen and Poyang, and further advance into regions like Duchang, Pengze, and Hukou. On September 10, the Northeastern Jiangxi Special Committee moved from Yiyang to Leping County via Zhongbu Street. It was stationed on the left side of the entrance to Zhoujia Lane on East Avenue in Leping Town, at the home of the prominent local landlord Wang Laowu. At that time, a sign reading “Northeastern Jiangxi Revolutionary Committee” was hung at the entrance. The house was built in the early 1920s, with a wood-and-stone structure. From August to November 1930, Fang Zhimin and his wife Miao Min lived on the upper floor, where they often worked with leaders such as Shao Shiping and Zhou Jianping to discuss matters.
