Nan Yao Tang Dynasty Ceramic Kiln Site

The Nan Yao Tang Dynasty Ceramic Kiln Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Leping City.

The Nan Yao Tang Dynasty Ceramic Kiln Site is located on Zhenpi Mountain in Nan Yao Village, Jiedu Town, about 6 kilometers southeast of Leping City. It was discovered in 1964 and is a celadon kiln from the Tang Dynasty. The site spans approximately 120 meters from east to west and 150 meters from north to south, with the thickest accumulation layer reaching up to 15 meters. Based on collected samples, the unearthed items include bowls, plates, bowls, pots, and kiln tools, with bowls, plates, and jars being the most common. Kiln tools include saggars and pads. The pottery has thick walls and coarse texture, with glazes in crab-shell bluish-brown and yellowish-brown, none of which extend to the base. There are no written records about this site, but according to legend, it was abandoned during the Huang Chao Rebellion.

In October 1983, it was designated as a cultural heritage site protected by Leping County.
