Jinbei Reservoir, also known as Lienv Lake, is located in Huaqiao Town, Yujiang County. Built in 1958, it has a dam that is 500 meters long and 30 meters high, a catchment area of 61.24 square kilometers, a total storage capacity of 40.4 million cubic meters, and an irrigation area of 50,000 mu. The lake features villas built on small islands, surrounded by rolling mountains. The highest point in Yujiang, Baihe Peak, stands here at an elevation of 512 meters, offering a vast sea of forests and exceptionally fresh air—dubbed a green oxygen bar—far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The mountain is home to many precious animals, plants, and various medicinal herbs, making it an ideal place for a summer retreat. Legend has it that before the reservoir was built, there was a bridge called Xiaolie Bridge, erected in honor of Xie Fangzhi and his daughter. Xie Fangzhi (1226–1289), a renowned patriotic scholar and poet of the Southern Song Dynasty, also known as Dieshan, has a street in Nanchang named after him—Dieshan Road. In 1289, after failing to resist the Yuan invasion and refusing to surrender, he died a martyr in Dadu. Upon hearing the news, his daughter Xie Zhoubin crossed the stream to build a bridge. Once the bridge was completed, she threw herself into the water and perished. Many later poets and scholars have written in tribute to this story.
