Located 5 kilometers south of the county town, it comprises nine rising peaks that are part of the extended Wuyi Mountain range and are named for their resemblance to a coiling dragon. The site stretches from Jiulong Reservoir in the north to Wulingyuan in the south, with nine peaks on both the east and west sides forming two natural barriers, creating a ten-kilometer-long valley running from north to south. The area boasts abundant natural and cultural landscapes, and due to its strategically vital position, it is known as “a sea of green, a world of flowers and birds, the homeland of notable figures, and a strategic military stronghold.” This is one of China’s thirteen major bandit strongholds, home to the ruins of Wu Rui, the founding king of Changsha in Jiangxi, as well as vast groves of chestnut, bayberry, and maple trees. It is also the birthplace of Ni Tang, a renowned statesman and educator of the Yuan Dynasty.
