Zhangshu Valley

It is situated beside the Maquan–Yutang Highway in the southern part of the county, covering an area of 50 square kilometers. It gets its name from the dense groves of camphor trees in the valley. The valley is long and winding, with murmuring streams that create a refreshing and serene atmosphere. Scenic spots in the valley include Chessboard Rock, the alchemy cave of the 25th Celestial Master Zhang, Mole Rock, and Triple-tiered Spring. In the first year of the Yuan Dynasty's Tai Ding era (1324), Wu Quanjie, who held the rank and treatment of a first-rank official, built the "Mingcheng Temple" here. As such, this was also the feng shui treasure site where Emperor Renzong of the Ming Dynasty granted a burial place for Wu Quanjie.
