Former Site of the Soviet Government Auditorium

The former site of the Soviet Government Auditorium is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

The former site of the Soviet Government Auditorium is located in Tenglin Yangjia Village, Huaqiao Village, Huaqiao Town, Yujiang District. Built in the mid-Qing Dynasty, it originally served as the ancestral hall of the Yang family in the area. The site covers an area of 494.6 square meters, with a built-up area of 459.2 square meters. The structure has a rectangular floor plan, facing east, and consists of two courtyards. In between lies a large central courtyard. To the east of the courtyard is a high raised stilt-style stage, to the west is the ancestral worship hall, and on both sides of the courtyard are high raised stilt-style side rooms. The building is of brick-and-wood construction with a post-and-lintel and Dougong-style timber frame.

During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the Tenglin Yangjia Ancestral Hall in Huaqiao was an important venue where the Red Soviet Area held significant meetings and large-scale military-civilian gatherings. Veteran proletarian revolutionaries such as Fang Zhimin, Shao Shiping, and Huang Dao used this place to promote Marxism, spread revolutionary ideals, and mobilize the masses to join the struggle. On the 7th day of the 5th lunar month in 1933 (May 30 in the Gregorian calendar), the Yujiang County Soviet Government held a farewell gala at the Yangjia Ancestral Hall to send off new Red Army recruits. The propaganda team of the Jiangxi Provincial Soviet Government performed the civilized drama "The Struggle at Year’s End," written by Fang Zhimin. Late that night, traitors led enemy troops in a surprise attack. Seven people were killed heroically, and two were seriously injured. The Soviet cadres and Red Army soldiers turned their flesh and blood into a tragic anthem of resistance. In March 2018, it was announced as part of the sixth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Jiangxi Province.
