Longxi Academy

Longxi Academy is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

Covering an area of approximately 500 square meters, Longxi Academy consists of a main building that extends through three courtyards. It features a brick-and-wood beam structure, with a depth of 26 meters, a width of 23 meters, and a height of 6 meters. The complex includes over ten study rooms. The entrance gate is built in the style of a memorial archway with a “eight-character” (wide-opening) facade. The gate tower is constructed from blue hemp stone, spans three levels, and is shaped like a pagoda, with upturned eaves, hollow carvings, and vividly detailed figures depicting traditional opera characters, all integrated into a richly artistic design that showcases the exquisite architectural artistry and superior craftsmanship of ancient times. The "Record of Longxi Academy" written by Jiang Shiquan, a renowned literary figure and dramatist of the Qing Dynasty, offers us a glimpse of the academy’s former glory. This ancient academy, which has withstood over 240 years and remains one of the few well-preserved examples in the city and even the entire province, still retains its classic charm, evoking a deep sense of nostalgia.

In March 2018, it was announced as part of the sixth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Jiangxi Province.
