Zixiao Temple Drift (Zixiao Fairy Rock) stands out for its seamless integration of water and landscape, blending motion and stillness. The scenery on the mountain, along the banks, and in the water complement each other, while the cliffs, rugged rocks, red flowers, and green leaves enhance one another. This attraction is located at the border between Qiaocun Township and Boluo Township within the county. With steep cliffs, a stream running through, and layers of lush moss, the area boasts serene and beautiful scenery. A local saying goes, “Visit Zixiao Temple, and you’ve seen half the world’s scenery.” Throughout history, many notable figures have praised this site as the “Finest in the South” and the “Number One Drift in the South.” Drifting down the stream by bamboo raft from Zixi, over a distance of more than ten li, you’ll find yourself surrounded by overlapping mountains and ridges on both banks — dark as ink. The winding stream is clear, the mountain waters pristine, and the foliage lush and vibrant. Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, immerse yourself in the verdant mountains and waters of Zixiao Temple Drift. Surrounded by murmuring streams and accompanied by the echoing chants of boatmen, the majestic peaks, dense forests, moss-covered cliffs, and emerald bamboo groves unfold before your eyes like a rhythmic symphony, as if entering a fairyland. The natural scenery along Zixiao Temple Drift is naturally formed and breathtaking, with abrupt peaks in diverse shapes and rich folk tales. It’s truly described as “Peaks rise from the earth like sprouting grass, jade-like hues reach into the clouds, mountain reflections shimmer on the water, and no peak or water is without divine charm.” After taking in a series of attractions such as Lijiazhai and Pig Heart Stone, the bamboo raft arrives at the foot of Zixiao Mountain. A short 10-minute walk ashore leads you through several hundred steps of steep and perilous stairs, including the Ladder Cloud Cave and Floating Hill Shrine, before you unknowingly find yourself in front of Zixiao Temple. The temple complex consists of the Yuanwu God Hall and the Law and Governance Hall, scattered around which are numerous stone-carved Buddha statues. Though not exquisitely crafted, their simplicity carries a hint of mystery, instantly stirring a sense of reverence. Downstream of Zixiao Temple Drift, all the way to Jiangyuan Dam, the scenery is dominated by towering cliffs and peculiar rocks. Drifting along the bamboo raft, as the waters wind and turn, you’ll experience sudden reveals of beauty — like emerging from darkness into light — leaving you in awe of nature’s wonders and the miraculous craftsmanship of creation.
