The former residence of Zhou Enlai in Aoxi is a cultural relic protection unit of Le’an County.

The former residence of Zhou Enlai in Aoxi is located on Xia Dajie Street in Aoxi Town, Le’an County. On August 17, 1932, after the First Front Red Army captured Le’an City, Zhou Enlai, then Secretary of the Central Bureau of the Soviet Area, held a meeting with local merchants that evening at the “You Family Ancestral Hall,” where he promoted the Party’s industrial and commercial policies, setting an example for the Central Soviet Area. The next day, the officers and soldiers of the First Red Army Corps advanced to Yihuang and successfully captured Yihuang City. The original site, the You Family Ancestral Hall, was first built during the Ming Dynasty and renovated in the Qing Dynasty. It faces east with a westward orientation, measuring 14 meters in width and 26 meters in depth, with a total height of 6 meters. It features a beam-frame structure made of brick and wood, consisting of a front hall, rear hall, and a corridor, topped with a flush gable roof. The exterior remains in its original state, but the interior decorations have been completely altered. It currently serves as dormitory housing for Aoxi officials. In 1980, it was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit with approval from the People’s Government of Le’an County.

Zhou Enlai was a Marxist, proletarian revolutionary, statesman, military strategist, and diplomat. He was one of the principal leaders of the Communist Party of China and the People's Republic of China, one of the founders of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and the Premier of the People's Republic of China (1949–1976). Originally from Shaoxing, Zhejiang, he was born in Huai’an, Jiangsu. In 1917, after graduating from Nankai School in Tianjin, he went to Japan to study. He returned to China in 1919, entered Nankai University in September, and became a leader among Tianjin students during the May Fourth Movement.
