Banshan Pavilion Revolutionary Memorial Site and Weijia Ancestral Hall (Mao Zedong’s Former Residence):

Located in Mage Mountain Village, Jianchang Town. Banshan Pavilion was first built during the Song Dynasty and served as a resting and rain-sheltering place for travelers in ancient times. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, and Peng Dehuai, along with other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation, led the main forces of the Red Army in operations across Nancheng, and achieved significant victories in the “Nancheng Campaign” as well as battles at Huangshidu and Changyuan Temple. According to historical records, on August 22, 1932, Mao Zedong led a portion of the First Red Army Corps from Yihuang over Mount Furong to Nancheng. Passing by Banshan Pavilion on Mage Mountain, around noon, he stopped to rest and have a meal there. He surveyed the surrounding terrain and resolutely decided not to attack the county town. He then hurried down the mountain and stayed overnight at Weijia Ancestral Hall. The Weijia Ancestral Hall is still well-preserved today. The Banshan Pavilion (also known as Chuizhu Pavilion), where Mao once rested, has now been renovated.
