The Site of the Weishui River Bridge Battle - The Former Nancheng Battlefield: The Weishui River Bridge is located about two kilometers east of Tanshiqiao in Xujia Township. In 1932, the Red Army held off the Nationalist forces that were rushing to reinforce Xu Kexiang’s troops in Jinxi here. This battle is referred to as the “Nancheng Campaign” in Selected Works of Zhou Enlai. During the Weishui River Bridge Battle, the Red Army achieved significant military results including annihilating over a thousand enemy soldiers and capturing more than a thousand rifles and over ten machine guns.
