Denggao Mountain Park was built in January 2007, located in the northern suburbs of Nancheng (formerly Ancient Jianchang Prefecture). It was historically known as Phoenix Mountain, as it is said that phoenixes once perched here. On the mountainside, there are cliff inscriptions such as “Fenggang” (Phoenix Ridge) and “Chaoyang Mingfeng” (Phoenix Crying at Sunrise). During the Double Ninth Festival, the ancient residents of Jianchang Prefecture would climb the mountain to watch the sunrise, which is why it is also called “Denggao Mountain” (Ascent Mountain).

The park includes attractions such as the Denggao Pavilion, Xujian Academy, the ancient southern gate tower of the city, cascading springs, an artificial lake, bamboo forests, pavilions, wooden boardwalks, walking trails, and a folk culture commercial street. The Denggao Pavilion sits at the highest point of Denggao Mountain (Phoenix Mountain) Park and serves as a landmark for Nancheng’s overland area and the park itself. It is a destination for the people of Nancheng to travel, relax, study, enjoy entertainment, and maintain health. More importantly, it is a platform for showcasing Nancheng's historical and cultural heritage and a symbol of the city.
