The Linfang Wang Clan Ancestral Hall

The Linfang Wang Clan Ancestral Hall is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangxi Province.

The Linfang Wang Clan Ancestral Hall is one of the better-preserved ancient ancestral halls in Fuzhou City and has been listed as a provincial-level cultural heritage site.

The ancestral hall was first constructed in the 13th year of the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty, covering a total area of 580 square meters. In front of the hall stands a four-pillar, three-bay, five-story stone gate tower. At the center of the gate is an imperial edict plaque with the vertical inscription “龙光” (Dragon Light) and the horizontal inscription “王氏宗祠” (Wang Clan Ancestral Hall) beneath it. The pillars and lintels are adorned with carvings of dragons playing with pearls, cranes, and various floral patterns. The carving work on the gate tower is exquisitely crafted, and the calligraphy is bold and powerful. The ancestral hall is divided into a front courtyard and the main hall. On the west gate of the front courtyard is inscribed “三槐名第” (Three Catalpas’ Noble House), and on the east gate is “临坊世家” (Linfang Aristocratic Family). To the east side of the ancestral hall stands an ancient opera stage, which remains well preserved to this day.
