Former Site of the Red Third Army Corps Command in Cigui

During the Song and Ming dynasties, Cigui Village was once extremely prosperous. The Nancheng County Annals (Tongzhi Edition) recorded: “There were up to 1,400 households, 70 butcher shops, buildings stood in rows, and the sounds of music never ceased.” Although the village gradually declined due to repeated wars, it still preserves many simple yet classic Ming and Qing dynasty buildings and exquisite wood carvings. Cigui was also a base area for the Red Army during the Second Revolutionary Civil War. The village houses former residences of high-ranking Red Army generals and retains numerous Red Army slogans, making it a tourist destination that combines historical, revolutionary, and natural charm.

The village preserves over 20 Red Army slogans from the Second Revolutionary Civil War, such as “Down with the Kuomintang, butcher of workers and peasants!” “Strive for the first victory in Jiangxi!” “Oppose the Nationalists—halt soldiers from resisting Japan!” ... Most of these slogans were written on the walls of large houses in the village. The characters are dignified and elegant, each about 60 centimeters tall, qualifying as large-scale slogans. They are signed by the Red Third Army Corps and are estimated to have been written around 1933.

An ancient house named “Wuxuan” once served as the command post of the Red Third Army Corps and the residence of high-ranking generals. The Red Army generals held meetings in the hall to plan military strategies.
