The Cloud Valley Waterfall has been one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Yichun since ancient times and is a premium attraction in the Tanxia Scenic Area.

The Cloud Valley Waterfall features a five-tiered cascade, namely the Cloud Valley Waterfall, the Exquisite Waterfall, the Fish Scale Waterfall, the Jade Dragon Waterfall, and the Flying Ribbon Waterfall. The waterfall originates from the foot of Taiping Mountain at an elevation of 1,735.6 meters, with this being the first tier, boasting a drop of 119.57 meters.

The Cloud Valley Waterfall is the highest waterfall in southern China. It earned its name because the mountain peak is often shrouded in clouds, making it appear as if the water cascades from within the clouds — hence “Cloud Valley Waterfall.” The four large Chinese characters “云谷飞瀑” (Cloud Valley Waterfall) carved into the cliffs were inscribed by Shen Peng, Chairman of the Chinese Calligraphers Association, with each character measuring five meters in both length and width. From the viewing platform, you can see the waterfall as a white dragon descending from the sky. The water splashes into the pool below, creating countless droplets. When the sun shines, a beautiful rainbow often appears in the middle of the falls.
