Chan Capital Cultural Expo Park is located north of the Outer Ring North Road in Yiyang New District, south of the extended section of Luzhou Road, and west of the Xiushui River. Covering an area of approximately 3,200 acres with a built-up area of about 560,000 square meters, the project has a total investment of around 650 million yuan. It is a comprehensive tourism initiative integrating cultural sightseeing and experiences, leisure vacations, and tourism real estate.

Yichun is not only the birthplace where Buddhist Master Mazu established monastic traditions and Master Baizhang formulated monastic rules, but also the origin of three of the “Five Schools of Chan” within the “One Flower, Five Leaves” — namely, the Linji, Caodong, and Weiyang schools. Since 2010, Yichun, hailed as China’s “Sacred Land of Chan,” has harnessed its rich and diverse Chan culture to create the Chan Capital Cultural Expo Park, which unites Chan traditions from across the country. The design of Chanbo Park closely follows the historical and cultural concept of “One Flower Blooms, Five Leaves Fall, Three Settle in Yichun,” highlighting the city’s unique identity as a “Buddhist Monastic Ground and Sacred Site of Chan.” The park is rich in cultural significance and features attractions such as the Five Leaves Empty Gate, Chan Heart Plaza, Five Leaves Altar, the “Pick Up the Flower and Smile” Sculpture, the Chan Story Sculpture Garden, Moon-Inviting Pool, Chan Victory Garden, and Chan Tea Pavilion.

Upon entering Chanbo Park, the first sight is the Five Leaves Empty Gate, symbolizing the “One Flower, Five Leaves” concept. From the gate, the view extends clearly from north to south, fully embodying the “void” of Chan. At the entrance, two lotus ponds feature seven massive granite lotus sculptures, representing the legend that when Prince Siddhartha (the future Buddha) was born, he took seven steps, with lotuses blooming at each step. The Five Leaves Altar is a four-story classical-style building. Right after entering the gate stands a 6-meter-tall bronze statue of Bodhidharma, the patriarch of Chan Buddhism. The first floor displays cultural relics and scriptures related to the 28 generations of Chan patriarchs; the second floor exhibits a gallery of renowned Chan masters from Yichun’s history spanning five hundred years; the third floor is dedicated to the practice of “Life Chan”; and the fourth floor serves as a management function area. The overall architecture resembles the precious lotus lantern before the Buddha’s throne, symbolizing the eternal transmission of the Dharma. The park also houses the Buddhist Chanting Music Hall. The ancient and solemn chants are clear and melodious, representing a beautiful expression of compassion and wisdom. Here, you can listen to traditional melodies, chanting, experience the atmosphere of meditation, enjoy a Chan-inspired lifestyle, and seek inner peace.
