Zhuangxi Cave

Zhuangxi Cave is located on Fengding Mountain in the northern part of Yuanzhou, approximately 35 kilometers from the downtown area of Yichun and 15 kilometers from Wanrong County. It stands in a north-south alignment with the famous Mingyue Mountain Scenic Area and connects geographically with Zhushandong Cave in Wanrong. The mountain features vast bamboo forests at high altitudes, crystal-clear mountain springs, mist-shrouded peaks, and a high concentration of negative oxygen ions, offering exceptionally fresh air — making it an ideal destination for summer retreats and leisure vacations.

The Zhuangxi Cave axis stretches 20 kilometers in length and is massive in scale, featuring dozens of cave chambers each exceeding 1,000 square meters — a rarity both nationally and within the Jiangnan region. The cave boasts uniquely spectacular scenery and distinctive styles, including attractions such as the Falling Stone Mountain, Seven-Story Tower, Wind Cave, Theater Cave, and Muddy Lake. Throughout the cave, towering stalagmites, ground-reaching stalactites, and striking rock formations abound — some resembling lions roaring to the sky or eagles soaring overhead; others like terraced fields or blooming petals; some like cascading waterfalls with beads of water splashing down, or like heavenly gates opening amidst a sea of auspicious clouds. Countless stalagmites, stalactites, stone flowers, stone curtains, stone benches, stone tables, and terraced formations fill the cave. The interior is covered with colorful, high-quality calcite, stalactites, and stalagmites of various sizes, resembling exquisitely crafted works of art — the incredible craftsmanship of nature is truly beyond belief.

The development project of Zhuangxi Cave is part of the comprehensive development plan for Fengding Mountain Scenic Area. Currently, the cave’s landscape remains well-preserved. In addition to the vast bamboo forests, the mountain has been planted with various ornamental trees such as high-mountain white tea, nanmu wood, Chinese toon, tung trees, oranges, and yacon. Over 7,000 acres of new forest have been planted, and an 18-kilometer-long mountain road with an 8-meter width has been constructed. At present, the preliminary preparatory work for the development of Zhuangxi Cave is progressing steadily.

Zhuangxi Cave, situated at the foot of Fengding Mountain in Zhuangxi Village, Hongtang Town, Yuanzhou District, Yichun, spans a total length of 20 kilometers. However, the actual entrance to the cave is a narrow opening halfway up the mountainside.

“Geologists say there’s gold in the river sand!”

Zhuangxi Village is remote, and villagers live modest lives. Zhuangxi Cave is the one thing they can take pride in. Over 2,000 villagers treasure the cave and hope the government will develop it to bring prosperity to their community.
