Tomb Cluster of the Sui Dynasty in Zhangshu Village

The Tomb Cluster of the Sui Dynasty in Zhangshu Village is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

Three ancient tombs were discovered in Zhangshu Village, Huti Township, Yuanzhou District, Yichun City. Local cultural relics and archaeology experts have preliminarily identified them as dating back to the Sui Dynasty.

After rescue excavation and cleaning, local cultural relics experts found that the tomb structures were well-preserved. The bricks bore carvings of cloud patterns, fish shapes, and other designs, with clear inscriptions on the sides reading “The 18th Year of the Kaihuang Era” (598 AD), and unearthed burial objects including two celadon porcelain cups, one celadon porcelain bowl, and one celadon porcelain basin.

Due to the short duration of the Sui Dynasty and the scarcity of historical remains, the discovery of a Sui Dynasty tomb with a clear inscription is extremely rare. This finding holds significant reference value for studying the history and culture of the central-western region of Jiangxi during the Sui period.
