Yuanzhou Dacheng Hall

Yuanzhou Dacheng Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

Dacheng Hall is situated within the former rubber-wood factory on Xiujian Road on the northern bank of the Yuan River in Yuanzhou District, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province. Originally built during the Chunxi era (1174–1189) of the Southern Song Dynasty, it has undergone damage and renovations in various dynasties. The existing structure took its final form in the 55th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1790). It faces south, spans 25.9 meters in width and 22.5 meters in depth, and stands 11 meters tall. The hall has five bays with an outer corridor, covering a construction area of 520 square meters. Dacheng Hall is a hip-and-gable roofed building with a surrounding corridor, featuring a post-and-lintel wooden structure. The interior ceiling includes an octagonal caisson ceiling and plaster panels. At the front is a porch, and beneath the eaves are decorative carved brackets and other artistic elements. The eave columns and some interior pillars are made of square stone pillars with sides measuring 0.38 meters, while the round wooden columns rest on melon-shaped bases, with the square stone columns sitting on square bases. It was designated as a municipal-level protected heritage site in 1984 and as a provincial-level protected heritage site in 2012.

This structure plays an important role in the study of ancient Chinese politics, economy, culture, and architectural technology.
