The Baishuidong Scenic Area is located in the heart of the Jiuling Mountain Range and the Sanzhaolun National Demonstration Forest Park.

It gets its name from a waterfall called Baishuidong, which is situated upstream in the valley. The waterfall plunges nearly 100 meters from the rocky cliffs, crashing into a pool below, creating a misty veil and a long-lasting aura. At the top of the falls, there is a striking rock formation resembling a flying crocodile from the heavens, incredibly lifelike. To the left of the scenic area lies the former site of the Lipishi Soviet Government, where the Red Sixteenth Army’s Xiao Ke once conducted guerrilla operations. To the right is a deep mountain valley, where visitors can go stream tracing and enjoy a variety of forest adventure activities, experiencing the hardships and thrills of the Red Army’s mountain crossings during guerrilla warfare. The upper part features clusters of welcoming pines, while the lower part boasts terraced fields and flower seas.

Baishuidong is situated among the Rafting, Huxiao Gorge Rafting, and Dadongshan Rafting spots, adjacent to the Jinluowan Resort. Covering an area of 10 square kilometers, this was once a battleground where the Red Sixteenth and Seventeenth Armies fought bravely. Nearby, the preserved site of the Lipishi Soviet Government of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army in the Xiang-E-Gan Border Region still stands. It has now been developed into part of the Sanzhaolun Scenic Tourism Area, focusing on pristine forest landscapes and fitness entertainment. The area is divided into a visitor service zone, an eco-experience zone, and a leisure resort zone. Upon entering the scenic area, visitors are greeted by vast expanses of primeval forest with overlapping peaks and lush green mountains. Just below the parking lot lies a large natural grass-skiing slope, where guests can enjoy the thrill and excitement of grass skiing across the expansive alpine meadow. You can also sit under grapevines to watch the thrilling globe of death performance by the Feilong High-Altitude Art Troupe, where stunt performers ride motorcycles inside a giant spinning iron sphere—an awe-inspiring sight. For those interested, you can even roll up your pants, wade into the pool, and try catching fish by hand in the densely populated cold-water fish pond.

This area is also known as the “Number One Stream Tracing Destination in Jiangxi.” A stream from the Baishuidong Gorge flows down from the pool of the Baishuidong Waterfall. The gorge is lined with shady trees, their slender branches lazily drooping over the stream. Large rocks are scattered throughout the gorge—standing, lying, or perched in various peculiar and fantastic shapes. The winding, deep, and meandering waters form a beautiful landscape painting of the Baishuidong Gorge. Along the way, you’ll find sights such as the “Zhu Yuanzhang” wonder tree, Twin Dragons Playing with a Pearl, Ox Head and Horse Tail Rock, the Flying Crocodile Rock from the Heavens, as well as large groves of the nationally protected first-class plant, the Southern Yew, and clusters of welcoming pines. You can follow the stream upward to take the beauty with you, or trace the stream up through the gorge, climbing and crawling between oddly shaped boulders and flowing water, swinging across the gorge, scaling cliffs, and competing in treasure hunts and challenge games specially designed for stream tracing—offering a unique kind of fun. When tired, you can sit on smooth rocks and scoop up some natural spring water from the crystal-clear pools, instantly feeling refreshed and cool.

Following the stream leads you to the Baishuidong Waterfall, which is four meters wide and drops over 40 meters from above, splashing water and echoing through the valley, creating a spectacular sight. According to experts, the area has a negative ion concentration as high as 70,000 per cubic centimeter, offering an oxygen-rich experience that refreshes the lungs. The waterfall sways with the wind, resembling a fluttering ribbon or the skirts of dancing women. On clear days after rain, you can even see a rainbow stretching from the deep pool up to the horizon along the mountain ridges. At the top of the waterfall, there is a massive rock separated from the main cliff, shaped like a crocodile standing against the wind—this is another classic attraction: the Heavenly Flying Crocodile. Between the crocodile-shaped rock and the opposing mountain peak, a cable bridges the gap, turning a natural chasm into a thoroughfare.
