Zhongyuan 4A-Level Rural Tourism Demonstration Site

Zhongyuan is a rare tourist destination in the province where the entire township has been rated as a provincial 4A-level rural tourism demonstration site. It is located at the foot of Jiulingjian, the highest peak of the Jiuling Mountain Range, which sits at an average altitude of over 600 meters. The area lies at the junction of four counties—Jing’an, Xiushui, Fengxin, and Wuning—making it a key transportation hub with convenient access. Zhongyuan Township is surrounded by mountains and water, with significant elevation differences and a pleasant climate. The summer average temperature ranges between 20–22°C, and the air is rich in negative oxygen ions, reaching up to 70,000 per cm³. It is an excellent destination for escaping the heat and enjoying leisurely holidays. Zhongyuan has developed into a highly renowned summer retreat centered around Sanping Village and marked by Baishaping, involving the participation of nearly a thousand households and well-known both within and outside the province. The area offers over 4,000 beds for accommodation, which are often fully booked even during the peak of summer. Activities such as dining on farm-fresh meals, savoring local cuisine, staying in rural guesthouses, and enjoying farm life, combined with outdoor attractions like the 1,794-meter-high Jiulingjian hiking trail, vast alpine meadows, Xiling Cloud Rice Terraces, Xiling Ancient Flower Bridge, Tianshou Temple, Jiumen Tower, and the Ice Mortar Grand Canyon of the Tenglong Gorge, attract many outdoor enthusiasts and those seeking rural experiences to vacation in Zhongyuan.
