Jiyang Bridge

Located in Miaokou Village, Tonglin Township, it is said that Miaokou was originally established during the Song Dynasty by the Yuan family, who named the village “Lüqiao.” After the Yuan family passed away, the Zhang family migrated here from Yanping, Hunan. The village got its name from the “Shuikou Temple” located at the confluence of two streams to the west of the village. This bridge was built by three local benefactors from Miaokou—Zhang Tulu, Zhang Penggui, and Zhang Kezhao. These three were known for their generosity and good deeds in the community, including building ancestral halls, setting up charitable fields, donating grain, aiding during famines, constructing stone bridges, establishing rest pavilions, and repairing water ponds. Their virtuous acts earned widespread acclaim across the county and even caught the attention of the government. In the ninth year of the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty (1530), a memorial archway (the Yiyi Archway) was erected in the center of Miaokou Village to honor their charitable deeds.
