Ancestral Hall of the Xi Clan

The Ancestral Hall of the Xi Clan is located slightly east of Huzhou Village in Shuibian Town. It was first built in 1085 (the Yichou year of the Yuanfeng era during the Northern Song Dynasty) by Xi Rende, the third-generation ancestor of the village. Facing south with its back to the north, the hall features a brick-and-timber structure combining raised-beam and through-tenon construction, topped with small blue tiles and horse-head gables. Covering a site area of 1,475 square meters and a floor space of 1,106 square meters. The current structure dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

The overall building is rectangular, measuring 24.15 meters in width and 58.54 meters in depth. It consists of a front courtyard, porch, entrance hall, front patio, side corridors on both left and right, main hall, and rear hall. The Ancestral Hall of the Xi Clan is a large-scale structure with exquisitely carved decorations. It once housed a gold-lacquered relief plaque inscribed with the words “Tianfu Chengcai” (Talent Presented to the Heavenly Province), written by Ji Yun. The main building remains well-preserved.

Huzhou Village: In 2012, Huzhou Village in Xiaxian County was designated as one of Jiangxi Province’s Millennium Ancient Villages. In early 2013, it was recognized by Jiangxi Province as one of 156 key cultural heritage protection bases.
