Former Site of the First Party Branch in Xiajiang County – Kuixing Pavilion

Kuixing Pavilion is located in the center of Mei Yuan Village, Xinxi Village Committee, Jinjiang Township. The site was originally Garden Academy. Constructed in the 34th year of the Guangxu reign during the late Qing Dynasty, it is an 0-style building with four floors above and below. The structure covers a land area of 306 square meters and a floor area of 534 square meters.

During the Central Soviet Area period, Kuixing Pavilion was the location of the Mei Yuan Branch, the first Party branch in Xiajiang County, established by local revolutionary martyr Liao Ziqing. The Mei Yuan Branch was founded on February 28, 1928. Under the leadership of the Party branch, the revolutionary movement in Xiajiang flourished, with 38 members recruited who actively devoted themselves to the revolutionary cause, marking a glorious chapter in the history of the Chinese Communist Party’s revolutionary activities in Xiajiang. On September 8, 1929, Kuixing Pavilion was set on fire by local reactionary forces, causing partial damage to the 0-style structure, which was later restored in the final years of the Republic of China.

This year, the Jinjiang Township government renovated the former site of the Mei Yuan Branch, restoring and preserving the residences of revolutionary martyrs, as well as various historical relics.

Jinjiang Township: Located in the western part of the county, it borders Yanxi to the northeast, Xin Yu City to the northwest, Ji’an County to the southwest, and Luotian and Futian Town of Jishui County to the south. It is named after its location on the upper reaches of the Golden River. The township government is 41 kilometers by road from Shuibian Town. The township covers an area of 101.5 square kilometers and governs five village committees: Miaqian, Jintan, Chengshang, Heifu, and Xinxi, comprising 67 villager groups, 61 natural villages, and a population of over 9,000.
