It can be summarized as “seven and a half parts mountain, two parts farmland, and half part roads and estates.” It borders Chongren County and Leping City of Fuzhou City to the east, Ningdu and Xingguo Counties of Ganzhou City to the southeast, Gan County, Nankang City, and Shangyou County of Ganzhou City to the south, Guidong, Yanling, and Chaling Counties of Hunan Province to the west, and Fengcheng, Zhangshu City of Yichun Region, as well as Xinyu City and Pingxiang City to the north. The municipal government is located in Jizhou District. The distance to the provincial capital, Nanchang, is 219 kilometers by road, and 18,056 kilometers by rail to the nation’s capital, Beijing. Blessed with exceptional natural resources, Ji’an has long been known as the “Golden Lu Ling” and hailed as the “Colorful Pearl on the Land South of the Yangtze.” Local specialties include Black-Boned Chicken, Kumquat, and Gougu Brain Tea—collectively known as the “Three Treasures of Ji’an.” The Taihe Black-Boned Chicken boasts ten distinctive features: a phoenix crown, tassel head, green ears, whiskers, silky feathers, feathered feet, five toes, black bones, black skin, and black meat. Its snow-white plumage and graceful form give it notable health-enhancing and medicinal properties. In 1915, it was designated an ornamental chicken at the Panama International Exposition. The Suichuan Kumquat, known as the “Jewel Among Kumquats,” is one of the four original producing areas of kumquats in China. Resembling pigeon eggs in shape, these golden-yellow fruits have thin skins, thick flesh, a rich aroma, and high nutritional value, and are known to relieve coughs and dissolve phlegm.
