The former site of the Red Fourth Army Headquarters in Meibei is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The former site of the Red Fourth Army Headquarters at Yongmu Hall in Meibei Ancient Village is located in Meibei, Qingyuan District, Ji'an City, Jiangxi Province. During the Red Fourth Army’s activities in the Donggu base area in 1930, its headquarters was stationed at Yongmu Hall. This site also served as an outdoor filming location for the movie "The Rift" and the TV series "Jinggangshan."

The ancestral hall was first built in the early Southern Song Dynasty. It was destroyed in a war during the late Yuan Dynasty and was rebuilt in the Zhengde era of the Ming Dynasty, which is 1519. Additions were made during the Qing Dynasty, resulting in a style that blends Ming and Qing architectural elements. The reconstruction coincided with the reign of Empress Dowager Cixi, and the upturned eaves feature “the phoenix above, the dragon below,” representing an official’s hat–style structure. Yongmu Hall was once the former site of the Red Fourth Army Headquarters, with the second floor used as accommodations for officers at the regimental level and above.

As a continuation site of the revolutionary struggle in Jinggangshan, Meibei also preserves many red heritage sites and relics from the war years. It was once the location of both the Southwest Jiangxi Soviet Government and the Jiangxi Soviet Government. Five provincial- and municipal-level cultural relics protection units are found here: the former site of the Red Fourth Army Headquarters, the former sites of the Southwest Jiangxi Soviet Government and the Jiangxi Soviet Government, Mao Zedong’s former residence, and Zhu De’s former residence. In addition, there are over ten other red revolutionary residences and sites such as the former site of the General Trade Union of the Jiangxi Soviet Government, Huang Gonglue’s former residence, and Zeng Shan’s former residence, along with more than 180 preserved red army slogans from that period. Four generals of the People’s Republic of China came from Meibei Village, including Lieutenant Generals Liang Xingchu, commander of the 38th Army—hailed by Commander Peng Dehuai as the “Army of the Eternal Life”—and Political Commissar Liang Biye. Films and TV dramas such as "The Shining Red Star," "The Rift," "Chen Yi Goes into the Mountains," and "Jinggangshan" were all shot in the village, earning Meibei the titles of “Generals’ Village” and “Movie Village.”

In May 2013, the State Council (State Council Document [2013] No. 13) announced the former site of the Red Fourth Army Headquarters in Meibei as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
