Sky Mist Tea
Sky Mist Tea
The Sky Mist Tea from Paiwu Township, Huayuan County, features tender, soft leaf flesh and emerald green, glossy, and vibrant leaves, earning fame both within and beyond the province. The tea liquor is clear, bright, and verdant, with a fresh, mellow, and rich taste. What’s particularly distinctive about this tea is its faint scent reminiscent of mung beans, carrying the essence of the wild mountains. In 1991, it ranked second in the high-quality tea evaluation held across the border regions of Hunan, Guizhou, and Chongqing.
Paiwu Township is the birthplace of the ancient and fragrant Sky Mist Tea. Located in the mid-mountain plateau area southeast of Huayuan County, it sits at an altitude of 700 meters. The area enjoys a mild climate, abundant rainfall, fertile soil with moderate acidity, and excellent water permeability and retention—providing an ideal ecological environment for cultivating premium-quality fragrant tea.
Tea cultivation in Paiwu Township dates back thousands of years, according to research. In recent years, under the organization of county and township government departments, local tea farmers have vigorously developed high-quality improved tea varieties and adopted new technological management practices. As a result, both old and new tea gardens have seen a significant increase in yield, making the township a key tea production base in Huayuan County.
