Huayuan Navel Oranges

　　Huayuan navel oranges are a specialty of Huayuan County in Xiangxi Prefecture, Hunan Province. The main variety of navel orange grown in Huayuan County is the Newhall navel orange, which is of high quality and highly favored by merchants.

　　The county’s navel orange industry, primarily consisting of ponkan and navel oranges, covers a total area of 58,000 mu, concentrated in over 20 villages across three towns — Biancheng, Tuanjie, and Huayuan Town — and has become an important channel for local farmers to achieve poverty alleviation and increase their income.

　　At the 2011 China Central China (Hunan) International Agricultural Expo held in Changsha, the navel oranges exhibited by Huayuan County won a silver award and were highly favored by merchants.
