The former site of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army School in Futian is a cultural heritage protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

The former site of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army School in Futian is located in Futian, Qingyuan District. In March 2018, it was designated as part of the sixth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units in Jiangxi Province.

In February 1929, Mao Zedong and Zhu De led the Fourth Red Army to Donggu, where they successfully joined forces with the Second and Fourth Red Regiments. In June, according to instructions from the Southwest Jiangxi Special Committee, the Second and Fourth Red Regiments were consolidated for training in Donggu, and the training unit of the Second Red Regiment was reorganized into a joint training unit for the Second and Fourth Red Regiments.

In September 1929, the training unit of the Second and Fourth Red Regiments moved from Luokeng in Donggu to Pixia in Futian, and began to be called the Red Army School. In February 1930, during the “February 7th” meeting, it was decided to establish a Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army School in response to the needs of the Red Army’s development. Mao Zedong was appointed as the school’s president, with Chen Dongri serving as the educational director. On February 20, Mao Zedong personally taught classes at Dunrentang in Pixia. There were over 100 students, forming three military battalions—infantry, mortar, and special operations. The curriculum mainly consisted of two subjects: political studies and military studies. At that time, the Red Army School also had over 200 horses. In addition to attending classes, the students also participated in battles for practical training. According to records, the students of the Red Army School, together with local Red Army forces, took part in the third, fourth, sixth, and eighth battles to capture Ji'an, demonstrating great bravery. This school became the first formal Red Army School of our army.
