Donggu Scenic Area

Donggu Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Donggu Revolutionary Base, centered around Donggu She Ethnic Township and encompassing Futian Town and Wenbei Township, was a key battleground during the First, Second, and Third Counter-Encirclement Campaigns. As one of the earliest revolutionary bases established by the Communist Party of China, the Donggu Revolutionary Base holds an important place in Chinese revolutionary history and created numerous firsts in both the Chinese revolution and the history of the Chinese Soviet Republic: the first paper currency, the first red post office, the first radio training class, the first consumer cooperative, the first comprehensive armament factory, as well as being the birthplace of 21 founding generals of the People’s Republic from Qingyuan.

The main sites of the Donggu Revolutionary Heritage Cluster include the Donggu People’s Bank, the site where the Fourth Red Army met with the Second and Fourth Red Regiments, Mao Zedong’s Former Residence in Donggu, the site of the Military-Civilian Oath-Taking Assembly, the Radio Training Class of the First Front Red Army, the Gonglue Pavilion, the Donggu Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, the Donggu Second Counter-“Encirclement” Campaign Exhibition Hall, the site of the February 7th Meeting, the Headquarters of the Fourth Red Army, the Jiangxi Provincial Soviet Government, and the site of the First Congress of the Chinese Communist Party in Southwest Jiangxi.
