Xinfeng Jade Belt Bridge

The Xinfeng Jade Belt Bridge is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Jade Belt Bridge is located in Zhongxin Village, Hushan Township, Xinfeng County, spanning the Hushan River between Aigao and Longzhou. It earned its name due to its graceful arc resembling a jade belt, soaring over the lofty mountains and arching above the rushing torrents. The bridge served as a key thoroughfare connecting Xinfeng County with Xingning and Heping in Guangdong, and is renowned across Jiangxi and Guangdong for its unique structure and majestic presence. The bridge is 30 kilometers from downtown Xinfeng County and can be reached by a minibus to Hushan Township, with a fare of 12 yuan.

It earned its name due to its graceful arc resembling a jade belt. The Jade Belt Bridge was funded and built in the fifth year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1740 AD) by local tycoon Yu Fengqi, and is also known as “Fengqi Bridge.” It is a two-pier, three-arch covered bridge with a curved structure, stretching 88.15 meters in length. It is the longest surviving arched covered bridge in southern China and is famed across Jiangxi and Guangdong for its unique structure and majestic presence. It has been praised in verses such as: “Far and wide famed is the Jade Belt Bridge, where towering peaks on both sides pierce the clouds. The surging river rushes for miles, while the jade-hued span rests atop the mountain waists.”

Hushan Township: Hushan Township is located in the southeastern corner of Xinfeng County, bordering Hezi Township of Anyuan County to the east, the Longtou area of Dingnan County to the south, Xiaojiang Town to the west, and Anxi Town to the north, covering a total area of 200 square kilometers.
