Former Residence of Comrade Peng Dehuai in Yingqian

During the Second Revolutionary Civil War period, revolutionary leaders such as Mao Zedong, Peng Dehuai, Chen Yi, He Changgong, Deng Zihui, and Teng Daiyuan carried out revolutionary activities in Yingqian. The former residences of Comrades Mao Zedong and Peng Dehuai still remain today. Peng Dehuai conducted revolutionary activities in Yingqian for over three months, spending most of his time at Shexia Ye in Xiawan Village, Yingqian Town. This place is nestled against mountains and near water, just across a river from Yingqian Market. The command post of the Longtan Hydropower Station was once the old Yingqian market (the saying “First Tangjiang, second Yingqian” referred to this area at the time).

Ye House is divided into an upper and a lower section. Peng Dehuai stayed in the west wing room of the upper section, while the headquarters and canteen were set up in the lower section. The door frames and walls of Ye House still bear many slogans written by the Red Army at that time. There is also a section of trench dug during those years on the hill behind Ye House. From the hilltop behind Ye House, one can get a panoramic view of Yingqian. The political department was located at the Xichang Township School (Yingqian Confucius Temple) at the time.

Yingqian Town: Located in the western part of Shangyou County, Yingqian Town is 46 kilometers from the county seat and 40 kilometers from the border between Jiangxi and Hunan. It covers an area of 65 square kilometers (including 11,000 mu of arable land, 61,000 mu of mountainous land, and 2,400 mu of water area), with a total population of 30,200. The town administers 9 administrative villages, 1 neighborhood committee, and 253 villager groups. There are currently 21 Party branches with 620 Party members. The total industrial and agricultural output value of the town is 80 million yuan, fiscal revenue is 8.46 million yuan, and the planned urban area has a population of over 5,000.
