Have you ever seen a suspension bridge that dances to the rhythm of music? What kind of unique sparks will be ignited when music is added? On a breezy, moonlit summer night, imagine the Bitan Suspension Bridge lit up like a sea of brilliant stars, accompanied by the romantic notes of classical music drifting from the riverside? The New Taipei City Government’s Tourism and Travel Bureau has launched a light show at the Bitan Suspension Bridge every evening from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with performances at the top of each hour starting July 27. Each light show lasts about 4.5 minutes. Additionally, on July 27, August 3, and August 10—three consecutive Saturday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM—a “Summer Spectrum Music Concert” will be held at the Bitan East Riverside Plaza and the Blue Tent Area. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the romantic symphony of Bitan’s night scenery, the bridge’s light displays, and live music.

Surrounded by mountains and water, the scenic beauty of Bitan is delightful in all seasons. Under the moonlight and starry sky of summer, the Bitan Suspension Bridge becomes even more enchanting with its changing lights. This is Taiwan’s first suspension bridge light show that moves to the rhythm of music. The bridge is adorned with 610 meters of aluminum track lighting, 400 pearl lights, and 8 spotlights, using a total of 17,472 LED lights, making Bitan a captivating new nighttime attraction. Starting July 27, the Bitan Suspension Bridge light show will take place every evening from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on the hour, with each show lasting about 4.5 minutes. Each day features a different theme, with the weekly schedule as follows: Monday – Shine, Tuesday – Ripple, Wednesday – Dream, Thursday – Flow, Friday – Shuttle, Saturday – Wave, and Sunday – Chase. Each theme offers a unique light performance, accompanied by background music from acclaimed American pianist Kevin Kern’s “Spiritual Light.” The gentle and soothing melodies paired with the rhythmic light display seem to cleanse the dust from travelers’ souls, leaving the most beautiful imprint on Bitan’s moonlit nights.
The “Summer Spectrum Music Concert,” which complements the bridge’s light show, will take place on three evenings—July 27, August 3, and August 10—at the Bitan East Riverside Plaza. The first concert on July 27 will feature the “Xindian Philharmonic Orchestra,” which has been recognized as an outstanding performing arts group by the New Taipei City Government for two consecutive years, performing a series of well-loved classical pieces. On August 3 and 10, at 7:00 PM, the “Quality Orchestra,” founded by Dr. Xie Chaozhong, a former member of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, and the “Follow Your Heart Orchestra,” known for its improvisational performances, will take the stage at the Blue Tent Area and the East Riverside Plaza respectively. They will perform a range of classic movie theme songs and timeless love ballads from both Eastern and Western music traditions. These sweet melodies are sure to delight your heart—fans of classic songs shouldn’t miss out.
