The Bitan Suspension Bridge Light Show Dances to Music This Weekend

Have you ever seen a suspension bridge that dances to the rhythm of music? What kind of unique sparks will be ignited when music is added? On this breezy, moonlit summer night, would you like to see the Bitan Suspension Bridge illuminated with a night scene as dazzling as starlight, accompanied by the romantic notes of classical music drifting from the riverside? The New Taipei City Government Tourism and Travel Bureau has been staging a light show at the Bitan Suspension Bridge every evening from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with each performance lasting about 4.5 minutes and starting on the hour, beginning July 27. Additionally, on July 27, August 3, and August 10—three consecutive Saturdays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM—a “Summer Spectrum Music Concert” will be held at the Bitan East Riverside Plaza and the Blue Tent Area. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the romantic symphony of Bitan’s night scenery, the bridge’s light displays, and live music.

The beautiful scenery of Bitan is surrounded by mountains and water, pleasant in all seasons. Under the moonlight and starry sky of summer, the Bitan Suspension Bridge becomes even more enchanting with its changing light displays. This is Taiwan’s first suspension bridge light show that moves to the rhythm of music. A total of 610 meters of aluminum track lights, 400 pearl lights, and 8 spotlights have been installed on the bridge, using a total of 17,472 LED lights, making Bitan the most captivating new night view. Starting July 27, the Bitan Suspension Bridge light show will be performed every evening from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on the hour, with each show lasting about 4.5 minutes. Each day has a different theme, with the themes from Monday to Sunday being Shine, Ripple, Dream, Flow, Shuttle, Wave, and Chase, respectively. Each theme features a unique light performance, and the background music is paired with American pianist Kevin Kern’s “Spirit of the Light.” The soft and soothing melody combined with the rhythmic light display seems to cleanse the dust from travelers’ souls, leaving the most beautiful note on Bitan’s moonlit night.

 

The “Summer Spectrum Music Concert,” which complements the bridge light show, will take place on three evenings—July 27, August 3, and August 10—at the Bitan East Riverside Plaza. The first concert on July 27 will feature the “Xindian Philharmonic Orchestra,” which has been recognized as an Outstanding Performing Arts Group by the New Taipei City Government for two consecutive years, performing several well-known classical pieces. On August 3 and 10 at 7:00 PM, the “Premium Orchestra,” founded by Dr. Xie Chaozhong, a former member of the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, and the “Improvisation Orchestra,” which focuses on improvisational performances, will perform separately at the Blue Tent Area and the East Riverside Plaza. On the performance days, a series of classic movie theme songs and timeless Chinese and Western love songs will be presented, sweet to the ears and heart—fans of classic songs shouldn’t miss out.
