Registration for The Color Run, the happiest 5K on Earth, starts tomorrow

For running enthusiasts who have jogged through cities, along riverbanks, or even taken part in nighttime starlight runs, how about trying something different? The Color Run, a fun run dubbed “the happiest 5K on Earth” that was held 50 times in the United States in 2012 and attracted over 600,000 participants, is coming to Taiwan soon. This series of events will be held in Taipei (September 28), Taichung (November 23), and Kaohsiung (January 11). As the name suggests, there are no champions and no timing—runners will pass through colored powder zones every kilometer and be showered with every imaginable hue. At the finish line awaits a vibrant and colorful party where participants toss colorful powders into the sky together—you become the ultimate palette of colors.

The Taipei event will take place at Dajia Riverside Park, the Taichung event at Taichung Metropolitan Park, and the Kaohsiung event at the Kaohsiung World Games Main Stadium. This joyful event, which emphasizes health, happiness, and individuality, sees over 60% of runners participating in a 5K run for the first time. The entire experience is untimed and non-competitive, with just two rules: wear white clothes at the starting line and get drenched in a rainbow of powders to become even more eye-catching than the Na’vi. Then dash through the finish line in your vibrant glory and enjoy a one-of-a-kind color party. Whether you’re 2 or 80 years old, as long as you want to run, you can sign up. If you're the kind of runner who can't run without timing or feels lost without seeing results, just press the stopwatch on your watch when you start. As for those who want to snap photos while running, it’s recommended to wrap your camera or phone in cling film or a plastic bag—otherwise, you might need a new device after the race.

Online registration for The Color Run will open at 14:00 on the following dates: July 26 for Taipei, July 30 for Taichung, and August 2 for Kaohsiung. The fee is NT$750 per person, which includes a The Color Run x Nike T-shirt, a The Color Run sports towel, a packet of The Color Run colorful powder, and a race bib.
