The Eternal Bird Migration Route

The Eternal Bird Migration Route is located on Niaoling Ridge at the border between Wuzhifeng Township and Gaoping Township in Suichuan County. During the Autumn Equinox each year, a spectacular scene unfolds as migratory birds pause during their southern flight, while during the Qingming Festival, large numbers of migratory birds can be seen flying north over the ridge. The Eternal Bird Migration Route, along with Dali in Yunnan and Guilin in Guangxi, is recognized as one of China’s three major avian migration corridors, and it is also an important stopover site for migratory birds traveling along the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Wuzhifeng Township: Wuzhifeng Township is located 70 kilometers from the county seat. It gets its name from five interlocking peaks that resemble outstretched fingers. These naturally formed peaks rise majestically, piercing the sky, with the highest peak reaching an elevation of 1,607 meters. Viewed from afar, the Five-Finger Peaks present a dynamic and vivid silhouette.

Designated as a tourist and exploration destination in 1994, the scenic area spans approximately 40 square miles. It includes Qiyun Mountain, known as the “Roof of Southern Jiangxi,” which stands at an altitude of 2,061 meters with towering, cloud-piercing ridges.
