Gannan Arboretum

Gannan Arboretum is a national science education base and a model science and technology education base for teenagers in Jiangxi Province. Established in 1976, it consists of twelve peninsulas and covers an area of 8,692 mu.

The arboretum is divided into six zones: the Ginkgo and Conifer Zone, Magnolia and Berberis Zone, Paulownia and Ash Zone, Maple and Rose Zone, Linden and Willow Zone, and the Plane Tree and Oak Zone. To date, over 1,700 plant species have been planted here, along with more than 10,000 herbarium specimens. The collection includes over 1,380 tree species, 52 rare and endangered protected plants such as the Chinese fir, fragrant wood, and yew. It is known as the “Botanical Gene Bank of Southern China” and serves as a transit hub for transplanting southern tree species to northern regions. The arboretum features garden plants from across China as well as precious varieties from overseas, including crabapple, cherry blossom, conifers, and maples from the United States, Myanmar, Mexico, Japan, and various European countries.

As the saying goes: “Come to Doushui Lake, and all your ailments will vanish; stroll through the arboretum, and you’ll live longer and healthier.” Walking along the forest paths in the arboretum, you can breathe in the fresh air rich in negative ions and enjoy the baptism of a “natural oxygen bar.” In autumn, the mountains are dotted with red leaves, the waters shimmer with their reflection, and the forest trails are carpeted with maple leaves. This place attracts countless visitors and photography enthusiasts who come to capture beautiful moments.
