Kongmeng River Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

Kongmeng River Wetland Park is the first national wetland park in Jiangxi, located in Yangtiangang Development Zone, Xinyu City, with a planned total area of 1,563.9 hectares. Relying on the Kongmeng River—the mother river of Xinyu—it features over 8,000 acres of riverside wetlands and 3,000–4,000 acres of paddy field wetlands. This is a national-level ecological wetland park. The area has a dense network of waterways and abundant flora and fauna. Built upon its superior wetland ecological environment and with conservation as the priority and restoration as the focus, the park embraces the Taoist principle of harmony between man and nature. Featuring wetland and pastoral landscapes, it develops tourism projects such as water sightseeing, leisure entertainment, and wetland recreation. The goal is to create a suburban ecological wetland park that both beautifies the city and purifies the water source, becoming the “green kidney” of Xinyu.

The park boasts rich wetland biodiversity and diverse wetland landscapes, consisting of a composite wetland ecosystem formed by rivers, lakes, reservoirs, springs, and paddy fields. It can be regarded as a representative of rural wetland complexes and a typical example of rural wetland culture in southern China.

Kongmeng River Wetland Park will protect its wetland ecosystem through scientific and effective measures, fully leveraging the wetland’s function in safeguarding water sources, optimizing Xinyu’s ecological environment, and providing residents with high-quality drinking water and recreational spaces. Currently, the park has developed 4,000 acres of artificial wetland landscapes, which are open to the public.

Wetland parks are an important part of the national wetland conservation system and one of the most direct and effective ways to maintain and expand wetland areas and protect water quality under current circumstances. They can fully realize the ecological, economic, and social benefits of wetlands. Currently, there are 18 nationally approved wetland parks in China. Jiangxi is rich in wetland resources and has great potential for developing and constructing wetland parks. The establishment of Kongmeng River National Wetland Park is of great significance in enriching the forms of wetland protection, management, and utilization in Jiangxi, and in setting an example.
