Immortal Meeting Island

Immortal Meeting Island is located in the eastern part of Wulong Lake Scenic Area within the Fairy Lake National Scenic Area, southwest of the Jiangkou Dam. Legend has it that long, long ago, a young man from Xinyu once encountered fairy maidens who had descended to earth here, and he eventually married the most beautiful and youngest of them, thus giving the island its name. Though it is just a tiny 250-square-meter spot, Immortal Meeting Island serves as a crucial gateway for visitors traveling to the main scenic spots.

The island features the Immortal Meeting Platform, which consists of two main parts: the platform itself and a group sculpture depicting the fairy maidens descending to earth. The platform is about 9 meters high with a circular base, designed as an artistic pavilion with a domed roof and spire. It is divided into upper and lower sections: the pavilion and the base. The upper section is a round-domed room, surrounded by eight arched lattice windows and doors that rise like ears—resembling flower petals or the feathered wings of celestial beings. The inner diameter of the pavilion is about 10 meters, covering an area of over 30 square meters, housing an electronic game room and the “Fairy Lake Scenery Exhibition.” Surrounding the pavilion is a 2-meter-wide corridor, an ideal spot for visitors to observe egrets. The base functions as a souvenir shop selling travel crafts, memorabilia, and local specialties.

In front of the Immortal Meeting Platform stands the “Fairy Maidens Descending to Earth” group sculpture. Shaped like an L, it faces 110 degrees—that is, 20 degrees northwest and 20 degrees southeast. The base of the sculpture is inscribed with the full text of “The Fairy Maidens in the Fields” from Volume 14 of In Search of the Supernatural by Gan Bao of the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The sculpture combines round carving and high relief techniques to depict seven fairy maidens with serene eyes and transcendent expressions. They are as pure as orchids, as pristine as jade, exuding ethereal beauty; their hearts dwell in the realm of sunset clouds, refining their beauty by the shores of cave-waves, waving their jade-like arms as they descend gracefully from the heavens upon auspicious clouds.

Around the Immortal Meeting Platform, colorful sun umbrellas, folding chairs, small tea tables, and other leisure facilities provide visitors with a great place to enjoy tea, rest, and take in the sun. Behind the platform stand two glazed tile walls. The left wall is inscribed with the “Record of the Development of Jiangkou Scenic Area,” while the right wall is a merit stele commemorating donors who contributed to the scenic area’s construction. To the left of the island lies a swimming area, and to the back is the Freshwater Fish Pavilion. Visitors can cross short, elegant floating bridges to dine inside the pavilion, sampling local snacks and immortal-themed delicacies. After a hearty meal, guests can sing and dance to their heart’s content, fully embracing life.

Ticket Information: Fairy Lake tickets are available in two types—100 yuan and 120 yuan—which respectively include a 70 yuan entrance fee and either a 30 or 50 yuan boat ride fee. Additionally, five types of fixed-price boat tickets are sold (5, 10, 30, 50, and 100 yuan), convenient for group boat rentals or speedboat rides. Active-duty military personnel and seniors aged 70 and above can enter the scenic area free of charge but must purchase fixed-price boat tickets.
