Pengjiashan Site

The Pengjiashan Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

The Pengjiashan Site is located in Zhoujia New Village, Shuixi Town, High-Tech Development Zone. It is a typical terrace site, discovered during a survey in March 1983. Stone tools collected on-site include axes, adzes of conventional shape, and small adzes; pottery items comprise shallow-dish ding tripods and dou vessels. The pottery is mostly made of red and gray sandy clay, with a variety of leg shapes such as flat chisel-style, concave-surface style, and laterally flattened style. The decorative patterns include checkered designs and netted patterns. This site primarily features cultural remains from the late Neolithic period, supplemented by those from the Shang and Zhou dynasties. Its discovery is of great significance for the study of the Shinianshan culture and the ancient civilizations of the Yuan River basin, western Jiangxi region, and even the Neolithic history of Jiangxi as a whole.

Shuixi Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Yushui District, Xinyu City. In 1949, it was part of Shabu District; in 1954, Shuixi District was established; in 1956, it was restructured as a commune; in 1984, it became a township; and in 1988, it was upgraded to a town. It covers an area of 135.3 square kilometers with a population of 53,000. Located in the central part of the district, the town government is based in Shuixi Market, about 10 kilometers from the district government. The Zhangyi Highway, Zhejiang–Jiangxi Railway, and Yuan River run through the area.
