The Xiali Site

The Xiali Site is located in Xiali Village, Yangjin Village, Zhushan Town, Yushui District. It is a platform-type settlement site dating back to the Xia Dynasty. Discovered in 1992, the site yielded artifacts such as a straight-mouthed— and black-slipped red earthenware gu. Other unearthed items include black-slipped red earthenware gu, gray earthenware dou, gray earthenware gui, jars, li feet, black-slipped earthenware fragments, as well as stone chisels, among others. The Xiali Site is one of the earliest Xia Dynasty cultural sites discovered in Jiangxi. Its discovery challenged the traditional view that Xia culture did not extend beyond the Yangtze River, holding significant archaeological and historical value.

Zhushan Town: Zhushan Town is situated on the southern bank of the Yuan River, facing the urban area across the (Yuan) River. To the east lies the Xinyu High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, to the west the national key scenic spot—Fairy Lake, to the south the Xinyu Iron & Steel Group, the largest steel enterprise in southern Jiangxi, and to the north the urban area of Xinyu, Xinyu Power Plant, Jiangxi No. 2 Chemical, and other large and medium-sized enterprises. The town has a total population of 33,000 and covers an area of 68.1 square kilometers. The arable land area is 24,819 mu, and the mountainous area spans 39,300 mu.
