Former Site of the Red Third Army Command in Shuixi

The Former Site of the Red Third Army Command in Shuixi is located in Shabei Village, Shuixi Town, High-Tech Zone. From October to early November 1930, the First Front Army of the Red Army moved to the Yuan River basin and held a joint meeting between the General Front Committee of the First Front Army and the Jiangxi Provincial Committee in Luofang. During this period, the command post of the Red Third Army, led by Peng Dehuai, was stationed here. As such, this site is an important part of the National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit — the Luofang Meeting and Xingguo Investigation Site Complex, providing valuable evidence for the study of the Red Third Army’s revolutionary activities in Xinyu. The site is the ancestral hall of the Liao family, a Qing Dynasty temple building facing east with a westward orientation, built with a brick-and-wood structure. It is a structure that combines northern and southern architectural styles and holds high research value.

Shuixi Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Yushui District, Xinyu City. In 1949, it belonged to Shabei District; in 1954, Shuixi District was established; in 1956, it was restructured as a commune; in 1984, it became a township; and in 1988, it was upgraded to a town. Covering an area of 135.3 square kilometers with a population of 53,000, it is located in the central part of the district, with the town government situated in Shuixi Market, 10 kilometers from the district government.
