The Chengmen Lin Zhixia Tomb is a cultural heritage site protected at the district level in Cangshan District.

Chengmen Lin Zhixia Tomb

Located on Chengmen Mountain in Chengmen Village, Chengmen Town, Cangshan District, adjacent to the military base on Chengmen Mountain. Lin Zhixia (1878–1947), also known as Liangsheng or Liangsheng, was a native of Min County. He graduated from the Fujian Military Preparatory School. A modern democratic revolutionary, he authored poetic discourse collections that have been passed down through generations. The tomb covers an area of approximately 400 square meters. It features a single-level tomb platform surrounded by brick walls, measuring 22 meters in width and 17.6 meters in depth. An inscription in regular script above the gate of the wall reads: “Tomb Garden of Mr. Lin Xia, General of the 1911 Revolution.” The mound is made of rammed earth and lime, rectangular in shape, oriented 15 degrees southeast, measuring 8.3 meters in length, 4.38 meters in width, and 0.35 meters in height. In front of the mound stands a tomb stele for Lin Zhixia. The stele is made of bluestone; its lower part is damaged, with a remaining height of 1.3 meters, width of 0.68 meters, and thickness of 0.11 meters. The front side is inscribed in regular script: “Honored Father, Master Liangsheng…” with the signature: “Son Lin Zhongyu…” The back side is inscribed in regular script: “The deceased was named Zhixia, the eldest son of Shukan of Min County. Born on the eighth day of the tenth month in the fourth year of the Guangxu reign during the lunar calendar (1878), and passed away on a certain date in the fifth month of the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947). On the seventeenth day of the seventh month of the same year, he was buried at Yuxiao Mountain, facing the ziwu direction with a slight inclination toward ren and bing.”

Designated as a district-level cultural heritage site in December 1985.

This tomb is fairly representative and provides physical reference for the study of ancient tomb structures in Cangshan District.

Lin Zhixia

(1878–1947)

Originally named Zhixia, courtesy name Liangsheng, also known as Liangsheng or Qirusheng, was a native of Min County and lived on Weiqian Street. In 1896, during the 22nd year of the Guangxu reign, he passed the imperial examination at the county level. In 1901, during the 27th year of the Guangxu reign, he studied at the Anglo-Chinese College in Fuzhou; the following year, he transferred to the first class of the Fujian Military Preparatory School. He graduated in 1905, during the 31st year of the Guangxu reign, and served as a staff officer of the Ninth New Army in Jiangning (now Nanjing).
