China Airlines to Launch Daily Direct Flights from Ontario, California Starting March 25 Next Year; New Taoyuan-Fuzhou Cross-Strait Route Added

China Airlines announced on the 26th that it will launch daily direct flights to Ontario, California, USA, starting March 25, 2018. The service will be operated by the Boeing 777-300ER and can be combined with the existing Los Angeles route for flexible itineraries. Tickets go on sale immediately. Additionally, a new Taoyuan-Fuzhou round-trip route has been added to the cross-strait network. Coupled with the current three weekly flights between Songshan and Fuzhou, the China Airlines Group will operate a total of five weekly flights between Taiwan and Fuzhou on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, offering passengers more flight options.

The Taoyuan-Ontario, California route’s outbound flight CI-24 departs Taoyuan at 16:10 and arrives locally at 13:20; the return flight CI-23 leaves Ontario at 15:45 and arrives in Taoyuan at 20:55. China Airlines is the first airline in Asia to launch scheduled flights to Ontario, California, and this route is also the carrier’s second direct flight from Taiwan to the Greater Los Angeles area in California since the inaugural Los Angeles service in 1971. The airport’s location offers great convenience for travelers in the eastern part of the Greater Los Angeles area, significantly reducing transit, customs, and baggage claim times.

In addition to the Ontario, California route, China Airlines will also add a Taoyuan-Fuzhou route. The outbound flight AE-215 departs Taoyuan at 07:30 and arrives in Fuzhou at 09:00; the return flight AE-216 leaves Fuzhou at 09:55 and arrives in Taoyuan at 11:35.

Fuzhou is an important trade port and gateway to the Maritime Silk Road on the southeast coast of mainland China, as well as a key cultural center. With a history of over 2,200 years, must-visit attractions in Fuzhou for tourists include the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys and West Lake Park. Travelers can also combine their visit with flexible connections to Xiamen for more convenient travel or business trips.

China Airlines currently operates flights to 30 destinations in mainland China with 119 weekly flights; in the Americas, it serves five destinations — San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Hawaii, and Vancouver — with 40 weekly flights, committed to providing the densest route network service.
