Rock Paintings on Ruiji Ridge of Lianjiang

The rock paintings on Ruiji Ridge of Lianjiang are a protected cultural relic site of Cangshan District.

The rock paintings on Ruiji Ridge of Lianjiang are located on the rock wall behind Ruiji Temple on Jiuxian Mountain in Linpu, Chengmen Town, Cangshan District, facing 17 degrees southeast. In front of the rock wall there is a small puddle, with water seeping from the crevices. The paintings depict human figures, below which are ripple patterns and splashing water droplets, while above the figures are cloud-shaped motifs. The strokes are bold and concise. The former suburban cultural relics management office reported them to Chen Zhaofu, executive member of the Rock Art Committee of UNESCO, who replied suspecting they might be pre-Tang Dynasty rain worship paintings.

In April 1995, they were designated as a district-level protected cultural relic site.

This cliff carving has an early history and is very precious, providing physical reference for the study of ancient stone carving art in Cangshan District.

Lianjiang Village: The historic site of Lianjiang Village is Linpu, which includes the former temporary palace of the last emperor of the Northern Song Dynasty, the Lian-Xi Academy, and other historical relics. It enjoys convenient transportation and a solid industrial foundation. Currently, the village has 796 households, a population of 2,397, and 1,499 laborers. In 2012, the total rural economic income was 266.17 million yuan, and the village fiscal revenue was 843,100 yuan.
